NEW OS AND WORKSTATION DRIVERS FOR 3COM ETHERLINK
It has been discovered that in some rare instances, the 3Com Etherlink
adapter will hang if an invalid packet is received. Once this occurs, it
will not recognize additional packets. The problem is best seen on large
systems. Workstations left unattended for an extended length of time will
no longer have a valid connection when the user attemps to resume activity.
New operating system and workstation drivers are available to correct
this.
Operating System Drivers:
acomdrv.obj
bcomdrv.obj
ccomdrv.obj
dcomdrv.obj
Workstation Driver:
shelldrv.obj
In order to install the new drivers, it will be necessary to copy the four
operating system drivers onto a working copy "GENOS-1" diskette. They must
be copied into the "ETHERNET" subdirectory on this diskette, replacing the
currect ones. The workstation driver must be copied into the "ETHERNET"
subdirectory on the working copy "GENSH-1" diskette. It will then be
necessary to re-generate both the operating system and workstation shell as
done in the initial installation. The new operating system and workstation
shell are then used in place of the current ones.
